Warren County Habitat for Humanity Opens Program to Assist Warren County Homeowners with Flood Cleanup Service
WASHINGTON, NJ – In response to the flooding that impacted many residents of Warren County in July, Warren County Habitat for Humanity (Warren County Habitat) will work to provide assistance to homeowners who have been affected.
The first thing any homeowner seeking help should do is to call their insurance provider. Depending on their response, other services in the area are also available in these situations. Resources below were compiled by Lori Ciesla, County Commissioner:
- If you need assistance due to the recent storm, please contact 211. This statewide service has a list of resources available.
- If 211 is not helpful and you are still looking for assistance, please contact WC Temporary Assistance at 908-475-6301.
- For emergencies, call 911.
- To report an issue with your property, call the Warren County Office of Emergency Management at: 908-835-2047 or 908-835-2048.
- For additional help, call Senator Doug Steinhardt’s Senate Office at: 908-835-0552
Warren County Habitat for Humanity has a Home Repair program that aims to keep homeowners in their homes safely and affordably. Due to the devastation in the area, Warren County Habitat is accepting applications for this program. They can be obtained at the office location, ReStore location, online or over the phone. See information below for details on how to pick up an application.
After applying, Warren County Habitat will send a qualified volunteer to evaluate the need. Projects will be taken on a case-by-case basis, as the program is volunteer run and there are unfortunately some situations that the organization is unable to assist with through the program.
Warren County Habitat for Humanity’s mission is to build homes, communities and hope in Warren County. When an emergency strikes, the organization provides support to those affected while continuing to focus on the mission. Warren County Habitat is anticipating their 24th Partner Family moving into their home later this month, and is excitedly in the process of choosing another Partner Family to begin their journey. With the help of many dedicated volunteers, they have opened their Home Repair program to include projects caused by flood damage, while continuing the work on their 24th Habitat Home.
