A successful Appeal
Once again, Warren County residents have stepped up! Friends of Habitat have responded to the WCHFH Annual Appeal in a major way. Over $18,000 has been donated to the group’s general construction fund!
Thank You Donors!
Individual donors have shown incredible generosity with their donations to WCHFH over the years. If you’ve donated over just the past three years, you’ve contributed to placing seventeen children and nine adults into Habitat homes. And very soon this year, a family of four will occupy their home as we complete our first Habitat Veterans Build.
We know that dollars are precious in your own families. And that there are dozens and dozens of worthy community causes that also deserve consideration for those dollars. And so all of us at WCHFH wish to sincerely thank each and every donor for their support this year and in every year since we started in 1999. That includes the partner families, the staff, the board of directors and the volunteers that make up the Warren County Habitat for Humanity community.
Why the Appeal is important
The Annual Appeal is one of the biggest fundraising events of the year. The Appeal typically raises half of the cash needed to break ground on a brand new home construction. Or it will raise more than is needed to begin the demolition phase of a rehab project. That’s a significant start to a Habitat Home project, which often takes over $100,000 to complete.
All Habitat affiliates rely on the donations of dollars and volunteer hours to build decent, affordable housing. Funds from the Appeal and other fundraising events, are combined with profits from the ReStore. As a result, these contributions have allowed us to continue our mission.
What can $18,000 provide?
Finally, you may wonder what can or will be done with the money raised by the Appeal. Each home construction has unique requirements and challenges. However, here is a general idea of the how the Appeal might impact construction:
- Excavation of a septic system
- Kitchen furnishing for two+ homes
- Sheet rock and spackle for four homes
- Framing lumber and flooring for two+ homes
- Plumbing and electrical for one home
- A foundation for two homes
You will be invited to the dedication ceremony of the Habitat Veterans Build home this spring. It is a great opportunity to see first-hand the impact that your contributions make.
